What to Expect
We are the Charging Data Modeling team that uses data analytics, algorithms and vehicle and energy software to enhance charging experience while reducing charging costs for EV owners worldwide.
With millions of electric vehicles, millions of home charging solutions, over 50,000 Superchargers and several thousand destination charging sites deployed around the world, Tesla aims to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy by enabling electric mobility without compromises. To further advance the mission Tesla offers Tesla Electric a retail electricity service that allows customers to power their home, vehicle and community with sustainable electricity from Tesla.
Our team use large-scale data analysis, machine learning, and modeling to retrieve actionable insights for enhancing the charging experience while minimizing the costs to Tesla. We also build the software tools and pipelines needed to maximize the leverage of these insights across our global operations.In addition, we develop and implement intelligent control for charging with Tesla Electric so that customers’ charging needs can be met seamlessly with low-cost and green energy from the grid.
What You’ll Do
- Develop monitoring KPIs for the Tesla Electric program
- Use the KPIs, statistical modeling and machine learning to extract insights on fleet energy usage and associated costs
- Improve data-driven decision making through rigorous data analysis/modeling and clear communication with stakeholdersfor the Tesla Electric program
- Design algorithms to optimize charging schedule for those in the Tesla Electric program
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering or equivalent
- Strong programming skills with a strong foundation in data structures and algorithms
- Proficiency in data analysis and modeling in Python
- Proficiency in SQL relational databases
- Experience with data pipeline development using Spark and Airflow
- Experience with utility tariff and energy market
- Experience in an agile working environment
- Quantitative projects available online through GitHub or blog posts

Expected Compensation
$104,000 - $348,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
