The Shop and Book Product Analytics team leads focuses on using the power of data to improve the customer experience throughout the Shopping path on all Expedia Brands. A role working cross-functionally to deliver great features to our customers on the Expedia brands.
As a data scientist III in the team, you will partner with our Product and wider Analytics teams in to understand performance of our products. Examples include identifying new success measures, automating elements of our reporting and using advanced analytics methods to drive new test hypotheses.
What you'll do:
- Carrying out weekly analytics of core performance metrics with a focus on understanding the drivers of conversion
- Understanding the interaction of key metrics and their relationship with strategic and performance goals
- Exploratory analysis to identify friction across the funnel impacting metrics, and quantify the business impact of this
- Collaborating across the Centre of Excellence team to define how we embed new metrics into our experimentation culture
- Defining a strategy for anomaly detection alongside the data visualisation and engineering teams
- Working with the wider product analytics team at Expedia Group to get a deeper understanding of our performance
Who you are:
- Excellent logical thinking, a very strong background (Bachelor’s/Master’s degree) in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, engineering, operations research, data science or similar and 4 years of experience in industry or equivalent
- Experience creating and analysing drivers of performance metrics
- Demonstrated ability to work through complex business problems and implement suitable solutions
- Ability to use and interpret machine learning models such as propensity modelling and forecasting techniques
- Creative and analytical in thinking with a love for data, to both disagree with and convince senior partners backed by data
- Experience in web analytics using tools such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics
- Experience with large datasets and proficient in SQL and another programming language (e.g. R, Python)
- Excellent verbal, written and data visualization skills
- Ability to prioritize among conflicting demands and be comfortable with ambiguity
- Sharp focus on results and strong attention to detail
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
