Data Scientist I - Competitive Intelligence
Expedia Group, a leader in the travel sector, is actively seeking a dynamic and talented individual to join our Competitive Intelligence team as a Data Scientist I. As a part of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving analytics, identifying trends, and solving business problems in collaboration with various teams.
What you'll do:
Proactively contribute to cross-functional teams, including Product, Strategy, Operations, and Supply Partners teams to solve problems, and identify trends and opportunities Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data presentation to improve competitiveness through actionable analytics Automate repetitive measurement and reporting tasks, construct scalable dashboards for multiple scenarios to analyze KPIs and performance metrics, and provide input into monthly, and quarterly Scorecards Extract data from multiple sources, combining it into required datasets for model building or analytics
Who you are:
- Minimum 1 year experience in data science or similar field (data analytics/insights)
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Mathematics or Data Science preferred; or a combination of equivalent industry experience and completed data apprenticeships/certifications
- Mastery of SQL language is a must-have
- Proficiency in Python or R
- Strong business acumen, establishing connections between data and insights
- Exceptional analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
- Has familiarity with visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI and a willingness to upskill
- Knowledge of statistics and online experimentation is preferred but not required
The total cash range for this position in Austin is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $86,000.00 to $120,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $137,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
