Job Summary

In this role you will serve as the Data Architect for the Aftermarket Parts Sales and Forecasting team. This team derives practical insight from our dealer parts orders and sales to end users that inform our operations, procurement teams, financial planning, logistics, and long-term capacity planning. You will help us in our strategy to simplify and standardize our processes, improve our data and systems, and fully leverage our digital capabilities.

What You Will Do:

  • Create the parts orders data operations strategy and execute to drive consistency and improvements in our data assets
  • Identify and merge data sources to provide a safe source for reporting
  • Perform data related tasks which could include data analysis, data quality, user access management, and troubleshooting of data issues
  • Lead communication across internal teams and technology partners to constantly monitor, collect, review, and roadmap data operations, and related technology solutions
  • Collaborate with other divisions to define objectives and develop approaches to solving challenges
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and tools that may impact Digital Multi-Generational Project Planning.

What You Have:

  • Education/Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Accounting/Statistics, Data Science, or Business Analytics and 5+ years experience in data management, IT operations, or business analysis, and strong programming experience
  • Business Statistics: Knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions
  • Machine Learning: Knowledge of principles, technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services
  • Programming Languages: Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms in order to write and modify programming languages. (Python, R, and Java)
  • Query and Database Access Tools: Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.

Top Candidate Will Also Have:

  • Experience with AWS services (Compute, Machine Learning, Analytics, Serverless, Migration, Transfer and Storage), Cloud ELT/ETL, SQL, Snowflake, and coding
  • In-depth experience with AWS Glue, Lambda, and SageMaker
  • Experience with solution integration or solution architecture practices (Cloudformation and CDK knowledge is a plus)
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops / Project Management / Github
  • Understanding of IT operations, data governance
  • Experience with visualization tools (ThoughtSpot, PowerBI)
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar policies, procedures and products
