The Position

The Senior Data Scientist - AI/ML position contributes to the research team’s efforts towards exploring and innovating within our fields. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will bring elements of statistical machine learning to explore prognostic and predictive models toward various drug development objectives.

As a Senior Data Scientist you will:

  • Apply relevant statistical, ML, and AI methods to solve complex challenges in the pharmaceutical development space
  • Collaborate with other data scientists to design, code, train, test, and deploy various AI and machine learning solutions
  • Evaluate algorithms and ML models for effectiveness and accuracy
  • Implement and maintain local and cloud-based data and computational environments to integrate data and solutions from different sources
  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams to develop multiple AI and ML solutions

The Senior Data Scientist AI/ML reports to the head of the related research area and will have a variety of internal and external stakeholders across US, Denmark and UK to understand challenges, identify areas of innovation, and build solutions using appropriate technologies.

Internal partners include data scientists, specialists, engineers, software developers, technology scouts & partnership developers, system engineers, designers, anthropologists, medical doctors, IT professionals, and others across US, Denmark, and UK. External relationships include commercial and academic collaboration partners.

You will have extensive collaboration with data scientists, engineers and scientists from other disciplines to complete daily tasks and to design and iterate on solutions.

This is a hybrid position with 2-3 days a week in the office in London.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. with a few years of relevant experience is preferred; a master’s degree with well-established experience will be considered. Degrees in biostatistics, computer science, molecular biology, computational biology, or a related quantitative discipline are preferred. Experience working collaboratively across multiple disciplines in a cloud environment/platform, ideally AWS, to drive innovation is also preferred.

Furthermore, you have hands-on experience in:

  • Experience building machine learning/deep learning models
  • Strong programming skills in python/R
  • Knowledge of fundamental statistical models and methods
  • Ability to perform in-depth data analysis and present results
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Shiny, Dash, Streamlit, MS Power BI, etc.
  • Experience with version control, unit-testing, and deployment
  • Experience with data integration and wrangling techniques.
  • Work collaboratively across multiple disciplines to drive innovation

Ideally, you present knowledge of fundamental statistical models and methods. Having experience in the areas of causal inference, adversarial reinforcement learning, transfer and transudative learning, and knowledge graphs (Neo4j, OpenCypher) is preferred, as well as the ability to read and implement ideas or code from research papers.

Experience in building, reading, writing, & other complex operations and visualizations of graph databases, as well as knowledge in graph machine learning and experience in tools such as PyG and DGL is desired, too.
