As the lead manager of Retail Testing Analytics in the Research, Testing, and Global Analytics Center of Excellence, you will be at the frontlines of innovation at Starbucks, managing our Test & Learn program and team of data and decision scientists designing experiments and measuring the impact of initiatives in stores. We are looking for an individual with strong analytical acumen and a consulting mindset to serve as a trusted thought partner for teams across the Starbucks Support Center. You will oversee tests and analyses evaluating many of the most critical Triple Shot Reinvention programs, including initiatives related to equipment and systems, product innovation, order channels, inventory management, signage, and sustainability, with your findings influencing go-forward strategy. In close partnership with our store testing implementation team and market research teams, you will also guide the testing organization through capability building and methodology innovation. The successful candidate for this role will thrive in a highly cross-functional working environment, possess strong analysis and insights generation capabilities, be comfortable presenting to senior leaders, and have the intellectual curiosity to dive deep into complex problems.

As a Retail Testing Analytics leader, you will…

  • Lead a team of data and decision scientists – You will manage a pipeline of tests, prioritize your team’s capacity to support the most critical testing needs for the enterprise, and support data and decision scientists in their career development.
  • Collaborate to bring tests to life – You will work closely with testing program managers, researchers, initiative leads, and cross-functional teams to support your team in developing test plans accounting for initiative-specific learning needs, implementation considerations, and balancing risk and rigor.
  • Oversee data analysis and manipulation of complex data sets – You will ensure your team consistently delivers findings with high statistical rigor and analytical quality, supervising test designs to enable clean reads and extracting data from a variety of large-scale databases, with strong attention to detail to spot issues and support resolution.
  • Craft compelling narratives backed by data – You will coach your team and collaborators to synthesize test findings into actionable recommendations, producing relevant visualizations and narratives. You will have strong executive presence and present to and discuss insights with business stakeholders, up to and including senior leadership.
  • Develop frameworks and methodologies for new analytical challenges – You will identify opportunities to innovate in testing methodologies and process, approaching new data capabilities and business problems with curiosity.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with quantitative emphasis: Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Psychology, or related field
  • 5 or more years related experience applying analytics to complex business questions; people management experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with data querying (SQL) and experience with a scripting language (Python or R); Mastercard Test & Learn experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of A/B testing and inferential statistics (sample size determination/power analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, presentation and storytelling skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects and competing priorities with minimal guidance and high attention to detail
