Job Description
Primary Function of Position
The GHEOR Data Scientist conducts the data management and analysis activities needed to support the research publication goals of the Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research (GHEOR) team. Primary responsibilities include creating data dashboards, cleaning data, preparing data cuts for use in research projects, documenting analysis methods, and developing standard programs for routine analyses. The data scientist will work closely with GHEOR researchers to properly execute statistical analysis plans and will serve as an expert on in-house real-world data sources, such as medical claims data and electronic health record data.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Data Analysis/Evidence Generation:
- Create data dashboards using tools such as Tableau, R-Shiny, Quarto, ggplot2, and plotly.
- Develop standard programs for routine analyses.
- Identify trends, patterns, and insights from complex healthcare datasets using statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Perform analyses of large healthcare databases.
- Lead evidence creation through GHEOR scientific studies, including large-scale real-world evidence studies and health economic analyses.
- Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
- Engage with internal customers seeking to gain insights from GHEOR data.
- Interacts with and presents to multiple departments within Intuitive, including global market access, HTA, clinical affairs, market research, clinical and product marketing, and publication teams.
Data Management:
- Write code to clean large amounts of healthcare data, create derived variables, merge/join/concatenate tables, identify missing values and outliers, and identify data inconsistencies.
- Develop data models that enable fast queries and efficient dashboards.
- Create data dictionaries and data catalogs for in-house data assets and data cuts.
- Work with data engineers to ensure proper storage of all GHEOR data on Snowflake databases.
- Ensure Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is handled in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
Required Skills, Experience, and Training
- Minimum Masters degree in biostatistics/statistics, epidemiology, health services research, or another related field with an emphasis on data management and analysis of health care data.
- A minimum 6+ years of experience analyzing and managing health care data.
- Proficient in statistical programming and data querying using R, Python, SAS, and/or SQL.
- Strong understanding of real-world data sources (i.e. medical claims data, electronic health record data) and observational research/design.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.
Base Salary Range Region 1: $134,500 - $193,500
Base Salary Range Region 2: $114,300 - $164,500
Workplace Type: Purposeful Onsite - This job requires being onsite for leader-defined events and activities which could be monthly/annually. Onsite frequency may increase based on business need.
