Primary Function of Position:
The successful candidate will work with a group of talented and dedicated people focused on the development and integration of fiber optic shape sensing in medical robotics. This position's primary focus will be to support data analysis and create data pathways supporting manufacturing processes and driving design improvements of current and next generation robotic surgery platforms. This role requires a passion for problem solving with data. Unifying new and existing data parsing utilities will require tenacity and creativity to help the migration toward developing a complete view of the fiber optic shape sensing components from manufacturing to field.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Investigate issues to root cause, understand and explain trends/shifts in data Proactively mine data to identify trends and patterns and generate insights for engineering and leadership Collaborate with Manufacturing, Field Service, and various engineering teams for cross domain analytics Create and automate powerful yet digestible visualizations to enable unaided consumption by leadership and technical staff Develop tools to facilitate tabulating identified trends in databases.
Qualifications
University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:
- University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall.
- Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.
- Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
- Currently enrolled in a Business, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative degree program at the Bachelor’s level
- Has completed at least one year of schooling
- Has experience with a high-level programming language (e.g. C++, Python)
- Demonstrated ability to think analytically and use sound judgement

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay (paid at an hourly rate), benefits, and a housing allowance. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including relevant skills and experience for this internship, degree-seeking academic program (PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, etc), year in school, and location. The hourly rate is prorated against the intern program salaries listed and total program compensation will be based on internship duration.
Base Salary Range Region 1: $68,200 - $102,300 Base Salary Range Region 2: $58,000 - $86,900
