Whole Foods Market is seeking to expand our Pricing Science Operations team with a Senior Data Science Analyst. This individual must be based in Austin, TX and report out of our Downtown HQ office (onsite parking available at no cost).

In this position, you will facilitate business planning, execution, and assessment by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting various data sets including customer behavior, transactions, and product data. Your responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of tasks, from conducting research and analysis to developing insights and strategies based on complex data sets. Using machine learning, data mining, and statistical techniques, you will explore different data sources to uncover patterns and drivers. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, you will translate these insights into actionable business strategies and long-term plans.

Your role also involves ensuring that Whole Foods Market’s data science applications remain at the forefront of industry standards. You’ll work on cross-regional projects with the potential for company-wide impact, assessing data suitability, filling information gaps, and providing forward-looking insights. Consulting with internal and external partners, you’ll determine the most effective use of machine learning and statistical techniques to support retail and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cross-regional data science support and contribute to projects with company-wide significance.
  • Assess the suitability of existing data sources, addressing information gaps and providing forward-looking insights.
  • Conduct data mining, statistical research, and machine learning to meet business needs and support long-term strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to leverage machine learning and statistical techniques effectively.
  • Research and evaluate large volumes of disparate data to identify patterns and generate actionable insights.
  • Effectively communicate within the data science team.

Required Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding and application of data science concepts and principles.
  • Proficiency in performing moderately to highly complex data analyses.
  • Advanced proficiency in industry-standard programming languages and platforms.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous process and system improvement.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
