About the Team:

The OPIS Data Science team is a collaborative group of Data Scientists and Data Engineers dedicated to tackling intricate data challenges. Our team leverages extensive industry knowledge, robust analytical skills, and a practical approach to address our organization's most complex business dilemmas.

About the Role:

OPIS is actively seeking a highly experienced Lead Data Scientist to take on a pivotal role within our Data Science team. Reporting directly to the Director of Data Science, you will be a leader in data science and AI expertise, working closely with other Data Scientists and Data Engineers on the team. You are joining a fast-paced Product Technology team specializing in the development of innovative AI and data science products for both internal users and external customers.

You Will:

  • Collaborate with our agile product teams, providing expertise in business understanding, data discovery, cleansing, mapping, profiling, mining, and predictive modeling.
  • Apply modern analytical methods, like deep learning and open-source frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), to create production-ready statistical and machine learning models, including time series forecasting and natural language processing.
  • Write efficient, adaptable model code across various features and highly skilled in debugging methods.
  • Stay at the forefront of data science and machine learning technology while improving best practices and upholding high data ethics and privacy standards.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in data science and machine learning, managing both structured and unstructured data
  • Hands-on experience and deep understanding in the following areas: time series forecasting (ARIMA, LSTM, Prophet), deep learning (CNNs, RNNs), and NLP, including text classification, sentiment analysis
  • Advanced experience in Python programming and strong knowledge of BI tools (e.g., Power BI) and key data science libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
  • Advanced experience in SQL coding and relational database management skills.
  • Expertise in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and data wrangling with experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.
  • Familiar with cloud AI environments (such as AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or Google).
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Fluent in English speaking and writing.
