The Prime Video Japan Analytics Team’s primary mission is to carry the voice of our customers: we strive to understand their behaviors and preferences in order to provide them with the best streaming experience and identify the greatest growth opportunities for the business.

Our team combines functional expertise across Data Engineering, Data Science, Business Intelligence, and Consumer Research. We own the analytical technologies and infrastructure, data, methods and tools that enable our stakeholders to make fast, data-driven decisions and execute them. We leverage these technical capabilities to provide (i) insights into customer behaviors and preferences, (ii) targeting capabilities to stay relevant to them, (iii) measurement tools to learn from our marketing activities, and (iv) forecasting models to anticipate opportunities.

Key job responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Data Science Manager to take the lead of the Prime Video Japan Analytics Team. In this role, you will:

  • Align with senior leadership and stakeholders on top priorities
  • Define the team’s vision, strategic roadmap, and ways of working (processes and mechanisms)
  • Scope projects and propose high-level technical designs
  • Allocate resources and manage projects until delivery
  • Implement state-of-the-art technical designs (data pipelines, statistical models, dashboards etc.)
  • Provide technical guidance and develop the team
  • Communicate progress and impact to senior leadership

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of building quantitative solutions as a scientist or science manager experience
  • 3+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
  • 5+ years of applying statistical models for large-scale application and building automated analytical systems experience
  • Knowledge of Python or R or other scripting language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a least one area of Machine Learning (NLP, Regression, Classification, Clustering, or Anomaly Detection)
  • PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field
  • Experience with fairness in machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect and remove bias in ML/AI systems
