Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) – Data Scientist (Computer Vision)

This team is part of the BI&A - Commercial Services organization and works very closely with business analytics team based in India.

As a Computer Vision Data Scientist, you will be part of a growing and dynamic team of business analysts, statisticians, and data/ML engineers using data and analytics to help Lilly patients. The position will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and deploying computer vision algorithms and systems that will drive innovation within our organization. The position will require expertise in computer vision algorithms for various applications, including object detection, image segmentation, and image recognition. You will implement deep learning techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and transformer-based models to solve complex computer vision problems. The position will report to the Sr. Director - Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) Consumer Data Science.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD + 1-3 years’ experience in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and/or Computer Vision research and development.

Additional Preferences

  • Has a good understanding of computer vision techniques and algorithms, such as image recognition, object detection, and video processing, and experience with computer vision libraries. e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, CT Imaging, TensorRT, ResNet, Inception VGG, Efficient Net etc.
  • Has strong expertise in areas such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Large Language Models, Recurrent and Convolutional Neural Networks, Generative Adversarial Networks, Graph Neural Networks, Causal Inference, or similar frameworks for developing machine learning models.
  • Proficient in Programming Languages including Python, R, C++, Java, or similar languages commonly used in machine learning and computer vision.
  • Contribution to peer-reviewed journals, conferences, public domain codebases and/or significant GitHub portfolio to demonstrate mastery and impact.
  • Ability to manage and process large datasets, including data cleaning, augmentation, and annotation.
  • Ability to think strategically and work independently in a dynamic and ambiguous environment.
  • Experience using Github or other tools for technical collaboration.
  • Ability to work across teams and build Team Lilly culture.
  • Publish novel findings in scientific workshops, conferences, and journals.

Responsibilities

  • Along the way, you will investigate concepts from their fundamentals (theoretical and empirical) to their prototype and creation as new solutions that change the marketing landscape.
  • You will develop algorithms & systems and act as technical consultant and thought leader for computer vision projects.
  • Develop data science and ML solutions for the application of Artificial Intelligence to marketing and AdTech programs, ultimately impacting the product and service offerings.
  • Employ software libraries, tools, and practices to implement efficient, scalable, and reusable solutions.
  • Collaborate with Eli Lilly’s other AI / CV experts to define and pursue strategic advancement of new technologies.
  • Develop in technical and leadership skills in preparation for future work.
