Job Description
The Global Data Science Capability Lead is responsible for defining, and communicating the global specific data science roadmap. The roadmap must be high-reaching, achievable, and aligned to the defined business objectives. The roadmap must enable the data science business community across all the markets to generate machine learning solutions to achieve its core objectives.
This role must be able to partner with market level (non-US) data science teams to be successful using the Commercial platforms. The role also needs to defined reusable components that accelerate the local market data science needs.
Typical Accountabilities
- Engage with the market level data science teams, and capability peers to understand the current and forecast future needs of the domains to develop a robust pipeline of platform features for machine learning use cases.!Act as the product owner of the global data science capability. This includes ensuring a rich and prioritized backlog that is communicated optimally to the various interested audiences (e.g., market level data science teams)
- Act as the primary point of engagement between the data science team and the broader IT teams (ETS, IGNITE, SSD)
- Conduct research, guide proof of concepts, attend industry conferences, engage in internal and external peer networking to represent develop a capability roadmap and representative product roadmaps
- Partner closely with the other capability leaders to influence their roadmaps and pull through relevant capabilities for the analytics community
- Act as the product owner for shared Commercial Data Science components
Education & Experience
- Degree level education or equivalent experience in computer science or a degree and relevant work experience
- Excellent communication and collaborator influence!
- Understanding of data science techniques and technology
- Understanding of various ML architectures like transformer based architectures, tree based architectures, GANs, etc.
- Experience working with global teams and thus an appreciation for differences in culture, style, and risk tolerances.
- Software engineering experience to craft reusable components!
- Ability to build a community for customer success
- Experience in the data and AI domain within Commercial Pharma
Skills & Capability
- Ability to understand Commercial business strategies and decompose them to software features
- Ability to network internally and externally to develop forward looking roadmaps
- Ability to influence Sr. partners to embrace the IT data science capabilities
- Ability to communicate the roadmap and connect the feature progression to the desired business outcomes
Desirable
- Experience leading ML Operations teams
- Previous experience with data engineering in support of data science
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of the external market
- Demonstrate initiative, strong customer orientation, and experience working in a matrix organization
