As a Data Scientist working on AI and Generative AI (Gen AI) solutions, you will be at the forefront of our data-driven initiatives, working closely with leadership teams to evaluate, frame, prioritize, and develop cutting-edge analytical solutions. Your strong expertise in statistical techniques, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and Gen AI will be pivotal in unlocking the full potential of our data. You will be responsible for applying advanced analytics to extract valuable insights from data in order to optimize operations, improve safety, and enhance decision-making processes to achieve transformational changes within ConocoPhillips.

Job Description

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Engage leadership and/or subject matter experts to understand business needs and find opportunities to apply ML, AI including Gen AI methods to solve business problems
  • Develop and implement cutting-edge AI solutions using natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, large language models (LLM), and Gen AI.
  • Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate the potential of Gen AI applications
  • Leverage your deep knowledge of Gen AI to influence strategic initiatives and drive the adoption of innovative technologies across the organization.
  • Adopt, improve, and champion the advanced analytics assurance process to BUs and Functions to support Responsible AI strategies
  • Partner with data service teams in continuous improvement efforts, improving data quality and data access across the company
  • Collaborate with data engineers and business analysts, to integrate AI solutions into operational processes and products
  • Communicate findings to cross-functional teams and senior management through data visualization and reports, ensuring that data-driven insights lead to informed decision-making
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to data scientists and data analysts, fostering the growth of data science capabilities within the organization
  • Deliver training, knowledge sharing and participate in communicating the value of advanced analytics with a growing community of practitioners
  • Keep abreast of industry-specific developments and stay up to date with the latest advancements and techniques in data science, ML, AI and Gen AI, applying this knowledge to improve existing processes and drive innovation

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Science or other quantitative fields or foreign equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in applying data preparation, exploration, and visualization techniques
  • 5+ years of working experience in using statistics and analytical techniques in scientific experimentation
  • 5+ years in creating ML/AI models using Python and associated libraries to solve business problems
  • 3+ years of experience in using visualization tools such as Streamlit, Spotfire, or MS PowerBI
  • 1+ years of practical experience in applying open-source or close-source LLMs to developing business solutions by utilizing Gen AI techniques such as Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-augmented Generation (RAG), Text2SQL, Fine-tuning, etc.
  • Intermediate proficiency with NLP techniques such as Topic Modeling, Semantic Analysis
  • Intermediate proficiency with deep learning algorithms, models and architectures such as Reinforcement Learning, Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), and Transformer
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Science or other quantitative fields or foreign equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation
  • 7+ years of working experience in using statistics, analytical techniques in scientific experimentation
  • 7+ years of experience in creating ML/AI models using Python and associated libraries to solve business problems
  • 5+ years of experience with visualization tools such as Streamlit, SpotFire, or MS PowerBI
  • 3+ years of experience in machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras)
  • 3+ years of practical experience in applying open-source or close-source LLMs to developing business solutions by utilizing Gen AI techniques such as Prompt Engineering, RAG, Text2SQL, Fine-tuning, etc.
  • Strong understanding and related working experience with NLP techniques such as Topic modeling, Semantic Analysis
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with deep learning algorithms, model and architectures such as Reinforcement Learning, GAN and Transformer
  • Intermediate proficiency with MLOps such as CI/CD pipelines, model deployment, and monitoring
  • Intermediate proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and big data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Spark, Kafka)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex datasets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to analyze stakeholder needs, global, political, and market trends, and understand how they shape and impact our business results.
