Position Summary

The CVS Health product platform team leverages advanced analytics techniques, consulting approaches, and healthcare expertise to power product innovation for our customers. Through our work we improve the health plans and programs Aetna offers. We look for ways to tailor services to members’ clinical needs and deliver higher quality care for a better price.

As the Senior Data Scientist – Product Platform – you will work with cross functional experts across our company to design testing strategies and ensure data science solutions are safe and reliable. Your work will answer strategically important questions like are our health plan pricing models reasonable? Or, how do we better link test cases to product requirements?

Think things like assessing the performance of production-grade data science models, creating comprehensive test plans, and using experimentation to improve health plan offerings. As the Senior Decision Scientist you will reduce the risk in our product platform through your experience in machine learning, quality assurance and risk management.

What you will do

  • Work with a cross-functional team of actuaries, underwriters, engineers and sales associates to make sure that ML predictions are reasonable
  • Design test cases and frameworks to increase the scalability, reliability, and performance of data science and engineering enhancements
  • Support and mentor peers on best practices for quality assurance testing & reporting
  • Prototype high quality automated test scripts for functional and non-functional requirements
  • Become an expert in health plan pricing and plan design

The ideal candidate

  • Has experience testing models within highly used products and services
  • Wants to do something that is innovative from a data science perspective and has a tangible operational impact
  • Loves innovating and working on small teams that get stuff done and have a lot of autonomy

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years work experience in data science, risk management, or quality assurance
  • 3+ years of programming experience in Python and SQL
  • 3+ years of experience in version control (i.e. git, CI/CD)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge, experience, or interest in automated testing frameworks
  • 5+ years work experience
  • Experience in Insurance, Healthcare, Retail, Tech or similar
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (pytest, selenium)
  • Experience with Agile environments
  • Experience with cloud computing (GCP, AWS, or MicrosoftAzure)

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$103,500.00 – $200,000.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
