Data Scientist – Marketing Measurement & Optimization

Petco looking for a strategic, collaborative, and highly analytical individual to join our Enterprise Analytics and Data Science team and to work on media measurement, forecasting and optimization. As a data scientist of Marketing Measurement & Optimization, you will be responsible for supporting the Marketing organization across a broad set of needs to help our marketers drive efficient customer acquisition and customer engagement/repeat purchase behavior.

The ideal candidate will be an analytical problem solver who gets excited about working with data in all capacities and would prefer to take the pragmatic approach rather than the theoretical one. To succeed, you’ll need strong independent thinking skills, coupled with the ability to lead the narrative on how to approach and solve key problems the business faces daily. While strong analytical acumen is a must, the ideal candidate must also be able to communicate data and insights to business users and package ideas/results into cohesive, strategic stories. This role requires strong business acumen and the ability to get up to speed quickly on retail omni-channel dynamics.

Your job will be to build marketing performance measurement model, design and run forecasting/optimization scenarios that facilitate decision making and allow a smart, savvy team of marketers to measure and optimize the coordinated power of their marketing and media efforts across key business goals.

You will make an impact by:

  • Building statistical and predictive models to forecast, analyze, and measure the impact of paid, owned, and earned media across digital and offline channels in order to drive marketing strategies at omni channels
  • Empowering the marketing organization to refine their strategies, make more efficient budget allocations, and maximize their return on investment by building multi-channel performance measurement solutions
  • Providing analytics support both in the planning stages of campaign development (targeting, customer behavior, performance benchmarking, etc.) and performance measurement/optimization stages
  • Connecting the dots across media channels, site behavior, and customer transactions to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and surface actionable recommendations to improve future performance
  • Running forecasting and optimization scenarios to facilitate decision making process in terms of budget planning, gap analysis and incremental budget allocation.
  • Integrating forecasting process into reporting tools, tracking the forecasted performance vs. actual.

What you’ll need:

  • Experienced in a Data centric role with at least 2 years of fulltime experience with Data Analytics discipline
  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Data Science or another quantitative field.
  • Statistical and econometric modeling expertise
  • Data ETL and processing experience
  • Data automation skills and experience
  • Experience and expertise on advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning, predictive modeling, and logistic regression.
  • Experience in advertising effectiveness analysis, marketing mix modeling, multi-touch attribution and ROI measurement
  • Working knowledge of media planning/buying and campaign management is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in using multiple third-party media platforms, such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager etc.
  • Dashboarding and data visualization experience
  • Excellent communication skill
  • Software/Tools exposure:
    • Big data tools –Spark SQL, Hive, Airflow etc.
    • Cloud Technologies – Google Cloud Platform service
    • Programming and coding languages: R, SQL, Python
    • Visualization tools – Looker, Tableau or Power BI, Data Studio etc.

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

$119,300.00 - $178,900.00 / year
