Overview and Responsibilities
Advertising on all formats is being reinvented through new business models and the combination of big data, predictive analytics, optimization and other modern data science and analysis techniques. We at Paramount Advanced Advertising are at the forefront of this reinvention and are currently looking for new, key individuals to join our mission! Our Product Science and Data Analytics team is looking for a Sr. Data Scientist!
- Direct a team of data scientists (3-5) on how to deliver models and analyses sought at solving underlying business objectives.
- Architect new, data-driven methodologies and features to improve product performance and capability.
- Coordinate with product management and software development to implement new data driven capabilities for Paramount’s Advance Advertising Group.
- Ensure technical approaches taken by the Product Science and Data Analytics team are appropriate for their objective and underlying data structure.
- Brainstorm functionality and features for future platform improvements
- Produce scalable, production-ready code using Python and SQL in a distributed, cloud-based environment.
- Manage and maintain existing Python data science repositories.
- Present information about data science to technical and semi-technical resources.
Basic Qualifications
- 6 – 8 years of data analytics and/or software engineering experience with 4+ years as a professional data scientist. Professional experience excludes academic/intern-based work and requires the use of machine learning techniques to extract actionable insights from large data sets. 1+ years of management experience coordinating a data science team (3+ Data Scientists/Data Analysts). Experience must include performance evaluations and mentorship beyond being a team lead on a project.
- Experience designing, building, and deploying production data science systems at scale. Must have extensive experience in object-oriented programming in Python, deploying containerized code (Docker/Kubernetes), and working with cloud-based data warehouses (Snowflake/AWS Redshift).
- Deep understanding and application of common machine learning algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, etc.), linear & matrix algebra, parametric and non-parametric hypothesis testing/statistics, and computational optimization via linear programming (Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP).
- Master’s degree in data science, data analytics or another appropriate quantitative field of study. A Ph.D. in a quantitative field is highly preferred.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience in cloud-based/distributed time-series forecasting.
- Clear understanding of relational database structures, data management, and SQL.
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services/Snowflake), cloud-based machine learning/data tools (AWS Sagemaker, AWS Athena, AWS Glue, Databricks) and distributed database/data warehouses (Redshift/Snowflake).
- Experience in media at an agency, network, or ad-tech firm, with proficiency in the fundamentals of digital, addressable, programmatic, or linear television advertising.
- A track record of partnering across a wide array of internal business groups, agencies, executive collaborators, and execution partners. Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience building and presenting data and analysis for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Passion for problem-solving and the resourcefulness & tenacity to find answers to difficult open-ended questions in a fast-paced, agile working environment. Intellectual curiosity about one’s data coupled with an acute attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and excellent time management skills.
- Experience managing and documenting team projects in Jira, Confluence and Lucid.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $139,200.00 - 174,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is eligible to earn sales incentive compensation.
