Job Summary
About the team:
HCSC is doing innovative and important work to align incentives and outcomes through actionable provider insights. The Provider and Network Data Science (PNDS) team delivers advanced analytics and insights as we lead the way to improve healthcare through ensuring coverage that is affordable, accessible, appropriate, effective and equitable.
An ideal candidate will be interested in a role working to leverage data science and advanced analytics in pursuit of better healthcare outcomes for the community. Our team develops innovative solutions to existing or emerging healthcare challenges. We use complex healthcare datasets and a robust technical toolkit to develop and implement predictive models and advanced statistical insights.
About the role:
PNDS seeks an experienced, motivated Senior Data Scientist to shape the future of healthcare. The Senior Data Scientist will create actionable, data-driven products for organization leaders using their expertise in healthcare, machine learning, statistics, and stakeholder management. This role will independently transform large datasets into a compelling narrative about how to lower costs and improve network quality using the power of machine learning.
What will you do?
- Creatively solve problems using large datasets from a wide variety of internal and external sources, including claims and provider data
- Create, develop, and implement end-to-end machine learning models and advanced analytical solutions to support and influence business needs
- Partner closely with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership, clinical experts, business teams, and subject matter experts, to inform development and drive adoption
- Proactively identify, communicate, and solution gaps, opportunities, and key considerations
- Document and share findings and observations, including through technical reports, visualizations, and analyses
Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR Actuarial credential; OR Master’s degree and 2 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR Ph.D. in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR 7 years experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field.

- Proficiency in at least four of the following six areas: 1) data analysis and relational-style query languages; 2) machine learning and/or statistical modeling; 3) data visualization; 4) a high-level programming language; 5) distributed computing; 6) understanding of healthcare.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
