Job description:

Our team is growing and we are actively looking to hire a Senior Consultant Data Science who will be accountable for supporting the achievement of Allstate Canada Group (ACG)’s short and long-term mission, vision and strategic objectives by solving the hardest business problems using ML and AI approaches to drive direct impacts to the P&L. The role serves as an internal trusted advisor within organization in terms of engaging the business stakeholders to better understand the business problem, develop predictive modeling, ML or AI solutions to solve the problem, support and monitor implementations.

Accountabilities:

  • Gather and understand the business problem, establishing clear plans for implementation and value quantification of work; communicate end to end plan with the business.
  • Develop the optimal technical solution, within the consideration of available data and implementation constraints. Support implementation and monitor the proposed solution to ensure the value quantified is obtained and sustained.
  • Support, and collaborate with the manager, data science, to elevate and grow the technical competency of the team. Partner with model governance to ensure best practices are in place and adopted.
  • Review and advise on predictive model, ML and AI solutions across the organization.
  • Build strong partnership with business stakeholders across the organization to ensure proactive identification of business opportunities to drive value.
  • Explore and research new modeling techniques when applicable.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master / PhD in a Quantitative study or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7+ Years of experience solving business problem using machine learning / AI approaches.
  • Proficiency in programming language Python (preferred) or R.
  • Extensive experience leveraging various packages and tooling for statistical analysis and machine learning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with emphasis on ability to execute.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to a clear and concise language to the business stakeholders.
  • Modeling experience must include regression and classification problems with full end to end implementation and value quantification / delivered.

Bonus qualification:

  • Insurance / Financial services / Telco Domain Knowledge would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of big data infrastructure and related technology would be a plus.
  • Experience in forecasting, stochastic models, clustering model, simulations, language models, image models would be an asset.
