As a Senior Applied Scientist on the Agent AI team, you’ll be partnering with a highly skilled group of applied scientists, software developers, and machine learning engineers working together toward a bold and ambitious goal.

The Agent and Loan Officer AI team at Zillow is focused on making real estate agents, loan officers, and the buyers they are helping have a smoother and more delightful experience. We build end-to-end applications and AI-driven services that help agents and loan officers use their time more efficiently, giving them more insight into how to help each buyer they are interacting with, and by using machine learning tools like Large Language Models to help them communicate more effectively with home buyers.

We are seeking a skilled Sr Applied Scientist to aid in designing and delivering AI-powered experiences.

About the role

You Will Get To:

  • Collaborate with team members from diverse domains: product, data, and science
  • Design, develop, and deploy NLP, LLM and ML models to solve complex business problems.
  • Conduct advanced data analysis on large scale datasets to improve model accuracy and performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest in NLP and ML technologies including state of the art large language models and Generative AI workflows (RAG, fine-tuning)
  • Lead and mentor junior scientists and engineers in the team.
  • Publish and present research findings at conferences and other forums

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions. In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $156,300.00 - $249,700.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations. In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • Our ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:
  • Strong understanding of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing fundamentals
  • Proven ability to work with large-scale datasets and deep understanding of statistical analysis.
  • Experience with Machine Learning tools and Frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Transformers, XGBoost, scikit-learn, etc.)
  • Experience with deploying ML models into production environments.
  • Keeps up with industry trends, recent advancements, and best practices
  • Prior experience with responsible AI development, tuning models for ethical / fairness considerations
  • Comfortable in a small team/fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
