The Apple Services Engineering (ASE) organization owns the development and innovation on Apple’s cloud-centric products and experiences for users all over the world, including iCloud+, Photos, Mail, Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Notes, etc. We are the foundation on which Apple’s software developers build the products that our customers love. Our multi-disciplinary data team plays a fundamental role in this mission by partnering closely with product, engineering, and business teams to develop a culture of leveraging data to inform and shape our strategy.
Description
The Analytics Engineer role sits at the intersection of Data Science and Data Engineering, with an emphasis toward building out amazing data products (e.g., dashboards, visualizations, and other self service solutions) that push the iCloud organization forward and enable better product experiences for Apple users all over the world. You will partner closely with senior leadership to develop self service tools that allow everybody to have access to relevant insights, and build the foundation of a data driven culture. You will team closely with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to develop and provide easy access to insights and improve the overall data product offering across the team. In addition to directly developing products, we will look to you for helping guide our data strategy and best practices for analytic tooling and visualization. Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience building self serve data products for internal partners, or in other relevant data engineering or data science capacities.
- You have a high tolerance for ambiguity. You find a way through. You anticipate. You connect and synthesize.
- You have excellent verbal and written communications skills and experience communicating technical concepts to senior executive audiences in order to influence decisions with data.
- You are analytically minded and experienced developing insights to inform strategic business questions. In-depth experience with with metric definition, productionalization, and socialization is very relevant.
- You are excellent at working directly with business partners to understand their needs and create impactful and visually compelling data products.
- You are an expert with Tableau, Looker, or similar business intelligence tools.
- You have experience querying extremely large data sets and developing robust data pipelines to support reporting and other analytical use-cases.
- Your academic background is in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Physics, and etc. Advanced degree in one of these fields is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- You have experience with Python, Spark, Scala, etc.
- You have varied experience across data engineering, data science, and/or analytics.
- You have experience with developing visualizations in JavaScript, D3, etc.
- You have experience directly supporting product and / or growth teams.
- You have experience presenting to senior leadership (depending on company size, C-suite to VP-level audiences).
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
