As a Barclays Research Data Scientist, you will have the opportunity to support content analytics and front-end developers with recommendation systems and similar machine learning models based on our research content to power our client-facing publication platform. This would be work done jointly and together with IT and with the guidance and expertise from the research data science and client analytics teams.
The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any another type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

What will you be doing?
- Working closely and collaboratively with research data science to develop recommender systems and related services
- Helping and supporting with data logistics to support content recommendation, including data pipelining
- Being responsible for informing analysis designs, especially with regard to causal and statistical inference
- Writing services required to support these functions, like APIs and stream producers/consumers
- Applying ML methods tactically, improving research deliverables without slowing down the research process
- Ideating and executing novel methods techniques in an experimental capacity.
What we’re looking for:
- Excellent data analysis and ML skills
- Basic understanding of data pipelining and automation, with experience using PySpark on large data sets and SQL for data extraction
- Past experience with data driven product development, especially AB testing and observational data analysis, especially designing and running AB tests
- Prior experience communicating data-driven insights to non-technical colleagues through dashboards, reports, and presentations
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Excellent skills with causal and statistical inference, including observational causal designs
- Experience in finance
- Experience with publishing data analytics for articles, blogs, or other web-based content
Where will you be working?
You will be working at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue. This 32-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness center and state-of-the-art LED signage on the facade of the building.
