Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a motivated Renewables Data Science Graduate to join our diverse team of professionals. Ideally, the role will be seated in our Austin, TX office (alternate and remote options may be considered). This role is to support our scopes of work in the Wind, Solar, and Battery Storage industries and with regular interaction with team members across at least five countries.

The Renewables Data Science Graduate will support the analysis, compilation, and management of data and datastreams from renewable energy projects and data sources. This may include model development and training, numerical analyses, development of reports and presentations, and research into different AI toolsets (e.g. Large Language Models). This will be an integral role within the renewable energy team’s scopes of work as they relate to the development, financing, construction, and operation of solar, wind, and battery storage systems.

The principal responsibilities of this post include:

  • Compile and collate datapoints for Wood’s databases into structured and unstructured databases
  • Link data collected and generated between different datasets and knowledge domains
  • Employ the use of data science tools and analytics for the purpose of preconstruction and operational energy yield assessments
  • Create data mining and management tools to recover and compile disperse data from various data sources into a unified database
  • Support in the review and analysis of renewable energy projects at the greenfield, construction, and operational phases
  • Databasing and knowledge management for the renewables team
  • Undertake research and draft summaries for R&D efforts and industry news and updates for the renewable energy industry
  • Support the development and implementation of new tools, processes, and systems to ensure effective delivery of project execution and delivery
  • Liaise with stakeholders to compile and integrate third party and internal information into project deliverables

Skills / Qualifications

  • Completion of an Engineering or Science Degree
  • Demonstrated interest in the renewable energy sector
  • Programming Packages/knowledge: python (preferred) or SQL
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • A flexible and proactive approach to completing work
  • Proactive approach to team communications, issue identification and troubleshooting, and lesson’s learned logs
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, PowerApps, and PowerBI is viewed as an asset
  • Must be a US Citizen, or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood
