THE JOB:

MGM Resorts International has embarked on a multi‐year journey in a 1:1 personalization initiative to redefine the casino resort, hospitality, and entertainment experience for guests. The Principal Data Scientist is an exciting opportunity and recognized SME to contribute to the personalization initiatives. This individual contributor will develop and evolve AI/ML models, and their orchestrations. This is a hands‐on role with opportunities to lead large projects. The role resides in the MGM’s Commercial Strategy & Consumer Engagement group, as part of Data Science team. The role collaborates with the Commercial Strategy, Customer Engagement, Marketing, Creative, Product, and Engineering teams. The position manages multiple data science projects and performs hands‐on data science contributions such as data munging and normalization, feature engineering, modeling, hyper‐parameter tuning, deployment, experimental design, test execution, and measurement.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Manage multiple large and complex Data Science projects with minimal supervision.
  • Perform hands‐on tasks of a recognized SME of AI/ML model development and implementation.
  • Collaborate with analysts and engineers to specify data requirements. Perform data collection, mining, pre‐processing, normalization, and feature engineering.
  • Develop predictive and statistical models. Hyper‐parameter‐tune, scale, and deploy models. Orchestrate next best actions, maintain Data Science CI/CD framework, and improve decision support systems. Execute processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance.
  • Peer‐review code, write unit tests, and provide feedback on data pipeline and modeling approaches.
  • Make impactful improvements in the Data Science enablement in personalization and commercial analytics.
  • Implement AI/ML strategic goals established by Commercial Analytics and Data Science leadership by collaborating with marketers, analysts, and strategists to exceed strategic goals of optimizing customer experience, revenue generation, deepen customer relationship, customer growth, and business KPIs.
  • Create audience appropriate documents and presentations with insights, results, and recommendations; and present those to business partners/stakeholders and non‐technical audiences.
  • Support in interviewing Data Scientists.
  • Develop company A/B test framework, evaluate model quality, conduct test/learn experiments, tests hypotheses, and interactively improve data science models to optimize corporate KPIs.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Possesses a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrates over 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Exhibits exceptional communication skills, adept at engaging with diverse business stakeholders.
  • Shows willingness to dive in and support the team whenever necessary.
  • Proficient in tech skills such as Python, Spark – PySpark, and Azure Cloud.
  • You excel in time management, effortlessly steering projects from inception to completion with minimal oversight.
