Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud and Artificial Intelligence group is at the forefront of cloud computing and artificial intelligence, driving innovation and large-scale AI implementation.

The Customer Experience (CX) Data and AI team within this group is dedicated to delivering impactful data, insights and AI that drive growth of the Microsoft Cloud. Our Data Science and AI team works closely with our engineering and product management counterparts to perform analysis, drive impactful insights and deploy machine learning and AI solutions for a variety of product and business scenarios. We collaborate closely with teams across engineering, finance, business planning, and sales and marketing as part of our mission. We are looking for a Principal Data Science Manager to lead data science for our efforts in the Microsoft Partner space.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, build, grow and support a team of data scientists.
  • Bring structure to problems, decomposing them into scalable solutions that drive measurable business impact.
  • Translate business requirements into concrete deliverables, including design, development, testing, and deployment of analytical solutions and scalable ML solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver value to stakeholders and products.
  • Work with large volumes of data to solve real-world problems.
  • Contribute to global impact through collaboration with diverse teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people-management experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years people-management experience.

Data Science M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
