The Opportunity:

We are looking for an individual to develop and improve QBE’s pricing and data science model suite, with a particular focus on our SME (small to medium sized enterprise), packages and property book. This role will report into the QBE Pricing Data Science Lead – Property. Pricing Data Science is comprised of a growing team of 50 Pricing and Data Science specialists, working with Underwriters across the UK, Europe and Lloyd’s and London Markets supporting the pricing of $5 Billion of annual premium. Our vision is to be the market leading Pricing Data Science team, working with Underwriters to deliver profitable business, investing in the development of every team member to build expertise in both insurance and data science and providing them with the tools and data that they need to be excellent in their roles. Your New Role:

SME, Packages and Property

  • Update the data pipeline that produces Management Information for our SME products
  • Own the hosting, deployment and update of pricing dashboards used by the SME team
  • Provide technical guidance for the delivery of the SME Pricing Transformation project
  • Be responsible for the on-going technical improvement of the SME and property pricing tools, including:
  • Enhanced data capture
  • Improved visuals (including integration of maps into pricing)
  • Impact analyses of model updates of model updates
  • Improved downstream reporting from model databases

Pricing Model Transformation

  • Provide best practice code structure for combining pricing model user interfaces, algorithms and databases
  • Create reusable components for pricing model python algorithms
  • Create reusable components for external APIs to be called from within model algorithms
  • Integrate internal Data Science Models into pricing model algorithms
  • Drive a code quality and readability mindset across the team
  • Build relationships with internal IT teams to support the transformation of pricing tools and deployment data science applications

About You:

  • Experience in developing coded (python, R) insurance pricing models, ideally with a property focus
  • Strong experience of SQL relational databases, pipelines, and stored procedures
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
  • Willingness and desire to learn new skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
  • A strong quantitative undergraduate degree
  • Experience of pricing transformation projects (advantageous)
