About the Team

We are a diverse and dynamic Research, Analytics, and Design organization, responsible for applying insights to influence design, product, and strategic business decisions. We’re passionate about crafting an outstanding insights organization at Workday, known for delivering high quality, timely insights that help Workday deliver solutions that support thousands of employees around the world. As a Data Science Manager, you will lead a team of data scientists and data engineers that focus on helping define and grow processes, methods, and outcomes for using data science to inform excellent user and customer experience. You will be empowered to create a strategy that enables your team to guide the company in evidence-based decision making. You will support your team in delivering insights that are high quality and designed to influence decision making for product, design and business strategy. You will work closely with research leadership and senior contributors to use converging evidence from data science and user research to influence business outcomes. We are looking for a leader with strong business and product competence, deep technical expertise, a talent for storytelling, and ability to work well with cross functional partners.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Contribute to Workday’s Research, Analytics and Design (RAD) team vision and strategy.
  • Define a strategy for your team that aligns with the vision of the broader data science and research organization.
  • Hire, grow, and develop a team that supports design, product and technology and value realization teams in making evidence-based decisions.
  • Create a sense of belonging and community for your team & contribute to development of the broader organizational community.
  • Collaborate with research and design leadership to inform, build, and scale programs that keep the user at the center of key initiatives.
  • Lead a team of ICs and support them in delivering high quality and impactful insights.
  • Consider factors beyond your immediate team to innovate, take appropriate risks, and balance short, medium, and long-term needs.
  • Be a role model for inclusive behaviors and build a diverse organization that values, respects and taps into different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Bring a background of statistical rigor in the enterprise space.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience managing Data Science teams and meeting key initiatives.
  • 8+ years of experience working in highly technical roles with a focus on data infrastructure and measurement

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree as a data scientist or product manager. Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • Experience creating, setting, and leading data strategy that aligns with business priorities.
  • Demonstrated history of leading, mentoring, and growing others.
  • Track record of translating insights into business impact.
  • Experience working with a variety of cross-functional peers and partners including designers, product managers, engineers, etc.
  • Effective communication skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Comfort in engaging with senior executives and sales teams.
  • A flexible and effective influencing style.
  • Ability to establish and meet bold timelines.
  • Self-starter and strong finisher.
  • Flex-hybrid reporting with 50% onsite at our Boulder office

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $152,400 USD - $228,600 USD

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $144,800 USD - $254,000 USD
