The Lead Data Scientist is a key role within the Data department in the Tech team at tombola. This role will report directly into our Head of Data, and will provide leadership to our Data Scientists, helping to build our data science capability.

Sounds great! What will I be doing? 🔎
Role Purpose:
- Lead and grow a team of data scientists at tombola, driving them to deliver cutting-edge data science solutions.
- Actively participate in, and oversee, the integration of data science projects into business processes to enhance tombola's decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Engage with senior stakeholders across various departments, understanding their needs and delivering impactful data-driven insights and solutions.
- Working with other teams to develop collaborative ways of working that make data science capabilities available to all departments at tombola.
- To work closely with the data engineering team to ensure data requirements for data science projects are understood and delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a data science team, promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment. Ensure professional growth and skill development within your team.
- Project Management: Manage the lifecycle of key data science projects from inception to deployment. Apply advanced data science techniques to solve complex problems and enhance business operations.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize your expertise in statistics, machine learning, and data management to develop predictive models and algorithms.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain robust communication with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring their requirements are met and their concerns are addressed promptly.
- Innovation and Strategy: Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies in machine learning and data science. Promote an environment of continuous improvement and innovation.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Proven experience leading a data science team and managing complex projects with significant business impact.
- Expertise in operationalising machine learning models and integrating them into business processes.
- Strong background in machine learning, statistics, data management, and relevant technologies (e.g., Python, R, SQL, AWS SageMaker, Apache Airflow, Dbt and AWS Kinesis).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge/experience of industry standards, such as CRISP-DM.
- Experience in the iGaming or online betting industry is advantageous but not required.
