This is your chance to be part of an in-house Commercial Strategy, Insights, and Analytics team of consultants to important functions across Hilton! The team consists of both embedded authorities who serve as strategic advisors to partners and technical specialists who are proficient in advanced analytics techniques and tools. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will support Hilton's Customers, Brands, Marketing, Digital, Revenue, and Sales organizations, with special support for the executive leadership team. On the Data Science team reporting to the Director of Data Science, you will support projects including Enterprise Forecast Management and other pricing and revenue management projects.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.
The Data Science Team serves as internal advanced analytics consultants to key functions across Hilton’s business, bringing predictive and prescriptive analytics through Data Science, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this role, you will be driving the research and development of the next generation of Hilton’s predictive models to a production-ready state and supporting their integration and implementation in our systems.
What your day-to-day will be like:
- Design, improve, document, develop, code, and test sophisticated analytical prototype models in a big-data environment;
- Solve practical data science problems in creative and novel ways, and operate with significant autonomy;
- Provide technical advice to other team members and senior management and lead model development of data science projects.
How you will collaborate with others:
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to collect, analyze, enhance, and understand business requirements, translating activities and business goals into researching, selecting, and building data science models and algorithms.
- Partner with other functional teams to access data elements, understand the data being analyzed, and identify improvement opportunities for the data ingestion process.
What projects you will take ownership of:
- Forecasting of various business performance metrics, including maintenance and improvement of existing forecasting models.
- Support and analysis for the commercial analytics team.
WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT
You have these minimum qualifications:
- Two (2) years of professional/industry experience in building, implementing, testing, and deploying data science and advanced analytics production models.
- Two (2) years of experience working on enterprise-scale projects in technology applications.
- Four (4) years of research experience in science or engineering fields that involve data analysis and mathematical modeling.
- Advanced programming skills in SQL and Python, and proficiency with common data science Python packages (including Pandas, SciPy, Scikit-learn, etc.).
It would be useful if you have:
- Ph. D. Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or similar disciplines.
- Experience with research and development in pricing and revenue management in the hospitality industry.
- In-depth knowledge of theory and practice of forecasting models, including statistical methods and neural network models.
- Proficient with tools for probabilistic methods such as Stan, Pyro, or TensorFlow Probability.
- Familiar with optimization solvers (Gurobi, CPLEX, or similar).
- Publications or presentations in top research journals or conferences.
- Deep understanding of the big-data platforms, cloud service providers and related ecosystems such as Apache Spark, Amazon Sagemaker, or similar frameworks.
