The Advanced Development Center at ASML in Wilton, Connecticut is seeking a data science and image processing intern with expertise in data science and image processing to work in the Analytics team.
Advanced Development Center (ADC) is a multi-disciplinary group of engineers and scientists focused on developing learning loop solutions, proto-typing of next generation wafer & reticle clamping systems and industrialization of proto-types that meet the system performance requirement.
This internship is during the summer of 2025, lasting approximately 12 weeks.
Role and responsibilities
The main focus of this position will be to:

Develop/improve software solutions for image processing algorithms and models for optical metrology applications. The work may include:
-
the use of machine learning models to predict trends and behaviors relating to defects, lifetime, and manufacturing improvements of the product;
-
work with database structures to write software scripts to search, analyze and plot data from databases;
-
support image analysis on data and derive conclusions.

Understand technical requirements and drive to a solution that meets them.
-
Collaborate with the design team in software analysis tool development solve difficult technical problems in an efficient manner.

Evaluate model/algorithm performance for accuracy and efficiency; ensure that it meets technical requirements. Perform software testing to identify application, algorithm and software bugs
-
Clearly document and communicate progress, findings, and insights to stakeholders.
Education and experience
-
Pursuing Bachelor's degree, having completed at least 3 years
-
Pursuing Master's degree in computer science or Masters/PhD in mathematics/physics/optical engineering or related fields
-
Experience in writing software: MATLAB, Python , C/C++, Java
-
Experience in scientific data analytics and the development of image processing algorithms and software
-
Experience in statistics, data fitting and filtering techniques
-
Familiarity with software version management e.g. Git, SVN, GitHub, Bitbucket
-
A strong background of course work in computer science, mathematics or computational physics/engineering with a focus on algorithm development.

Have some basic understanding of optical measurement techniques (e.g. interferometry, optical sensors) and imaging systems.

Have strong written and oral communicative skills
Knowledgeable with:
-
Have some basic understanding of optical measurement techniques (e.g. interferometry, optical sensors) and imaging systems.

Experience with SQL development e.g. SQLServer, MySQL, Postgres, etc.

Experience with data visualization techniques

Experience developing GUIs for end users
-
Experience with modern development tools IE: Kubernetes, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Hadoop

Experience developing machine learning models in cloud and high performance computing platforms.
