Positions may be based in** Atlanta, GA or Minneapolis St. Paul, MN**. As a Data Science Intern, you will query airline data from multiple sources and perform exploratory data analysis. You will write Python scripts and build models to predict behaviors and recommend airline actions. The Data Science Intern must be able to work independently yet be eager to seek advice and ask questions. You must work with urgency, especially due to the short nature of the internship. At the end of the summer, you will provide a summary of your work to Operations Research and Business leaders.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Have a 3.0 GPA or higher and have completed at least 2 years in a college program. Degree emphasis should be in Data Science, Data Analytics/Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • Be able to commit to working the entire 13 weeks summer internship program (May 13 – August 9, 2024)

  • Be willing to work from the Atlanta or MSP office (as agreed upon during the interview). Most teams work a partially onsite / partially remote (hybrid) work schedule with management approval.

  • Have Python and SQL knowledge and skills

  • Ideal candidates have strong analytical, leadership, written and verbal communication skills

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Ability to digest large amounts of data and information and succinctly explain what can be learned from the data and how it can support decision making
  • Desire to learn leadership techniques and best practices in problem solving and conflict resolution to enable innovation and progress on difficult to solve challenges of our customers
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience developing Machine Learning models
