Data Science Intern

Background information

ASML is the world's leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry. All materials that enter or leave the ASML factories pass through the Manufacturing Hub. Our Manufacturing Hub is a highly automated warehouse where a high variety of materials are stored and processed in complex processes. This new warehouse & logistics center is designed, bearing in mind ASML's future growth and next-generation machines. To enable ASML's growth, we would like to simulate and optimize different scenarios in our processes in the manufacturing hub. With this information we can define process strategies, anticipate and adjust the design accordingly.

Your assignment

Within the ASML Logistics Organization, we would like to create an optimization model for our Manufacturing Hub in a programming language (e.g., AIMMS), to help us simulate different scenarios, optimal solutions and bottlenecks. As an intern, you will be given the opportunity to build the optimization model in AIMMS by contacting stakeholders to obtain the required data. During your internship, the Logistics Engineering team will be available to help you.

For this assignment, some of your tasks will include:

• Understand the internal processes and how the Manufacturing Hub operates;

• Familiarize yourself with the current AIMMS model (which is already in place);

• Develop multiple scenarios for calculating and identifying bottlenecks in our Manufacturing Hub;

• Gather data and ensure the proper data usage in the model;

• Document your work and present findings;

Your profile

To be a match for this internship, you:

• Are busy with your master in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or Data Science;

• Are skilled in Excel and programming tools (e.g. AIMMS, Python or C++);

• Possess strong analytical skills and data presentation skills;

• Are result-oriented, convincing, and proactive;

• Have good communication skills in English (verbal and written).

This is a Master apprentice/ graduation internship for 4-5 days a week with a duration of 3 to 6 months. The start date is as soon as possible, October - November 2024.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship.
