POSITION SUMMARY

As a global leader in animal health, Zoetis has identified Digital and Data as a strategic priority. Our Digital, Data, and Analytics organization is at the forefront of this initiative, playing a pivotal role in enabling the company to leverage data in order to generate valuable insights for our customers and employees.

We are seeking a Data Scientist who will report directly to the Analytics Lead, Global Manufacturing and Supply within the Digital, Data, and Analytics organization. In this role, you will be instrumental in executing data science use cases that support Zoetis' digital and analytics strategy.

This position offers the unique opportunity to explore and capitalize on untapped opportunities in the application of IoT and advanced analytics within the animal health sector. Our approach to analytics encompasses everything from sensor data collection and analysis at the edge, to the delivery of data insights that optimize and, in some cases, automate decision-making processes.

As a Data Scientist, you will collaborate with world-class animal health experts to develop innovative digital and analytics products for our Global Manufacturing and Supply division. Our team utilizes top-tier analytics tools and techniques. This role provides an excellent opportunity to refine your skills with these tools and contribute to the evolution of their application within our organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply data science methods including statistical modeling, machine learning, deep learning, and digital signal processing to solve prioritized, business problems
  • Effectively document and test data science models, methods, and code
  • Follow data analytics quality and security standards for data science work
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to test and deploy algorithms or data products into the production environment
  • Develop a superb understanding of the business domain(s) to uncover new applications for data science
  • Research new technology developments in related fields and champion their introductions to the organization by developing proof-of-concepts and prototypes

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics; PhD is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience; familiarity with pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or other process industry is a plus.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing and implementing analytics algorithms, processing large datasets, deploying data products.
  • Experience analyzing large structured and unstructured datasets with MATLAB, R, Python or similar high-level tools, using big data sources (ADLS, Spark, MongoDB, relational, graph, etc.)

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS.

Required:

  • Proficiency in the areas of statistics, machine learning, and deep learning; along with their implementation in analytics tools and technologies, including at a minimum Python, R, and SQL
  • Comprehensive understanding of data engineering, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) and Machine Learning (ML) Ops concepts
  • Comprehensive understanding of source control and collaboration tools, such as Git and GitHub Enterprise
  • Excellent communicator, adept at explaining complex topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to drive a project and work both independently and in a team.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality work within established timelines and capable of prioritizing tasks across multiple projects.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow, Theano, Torch, etc,.and their application to image and video data
  • Familiarity with IoT, signal processing, and cloud-based event stream processing architectures
  • Familiarity with operations research and quality engineering principles (Six Sigma, experimental design, statistical process control)
  • Familiarity with life sciences manufacturing

The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in (Colorado). Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.

Base Pay Range: $89,000-$128,000

The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in (California), (NJ Remote), (NY Remote), or (Washington). Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.

Base Pay Range: $100,000-$144,00

[This position is eligible for short-term incentive compensation.] [The position is also eligible for long-term incentive.]
