The Job

Partners with key stakeholders in Publishing to develop data products in support of maximizing customer acquisition efficiency and lifetime value within our ecosystem. These products might include features in the areas of attribution, optimization, personalization, recommendation, experimentation, and automation.

The Daily

  • Studies the continuing convergence of Data Science, Technology, and Entertainment to identify future opportunities. Influences Publishing and WBA's product vision, strategy, and roadmap. Drives team goals and sets technical direction.
  • Leads high complexity, cross-functional projects that can meaningfully move the needle for our business to completion.
  • Conducts research and evaluates application feasibility by developing proof-of-concept solutions that drives incremental learning
  • Helps scale WBA by championing adoption of best practices, motivating and empowering teammates to achieve a higher level of performance, and attracting and recruiting bar-raising talents.
  • Actively participates in technical communities and advocates for meaningful changes across WBA partners, and beyond.

The Essentials

  • 8+ years of industry experience in analytics and data science; PhD/MS in a quantitative field (e.g. engineering, math, statistics, physics, etc)
  • Expertise in a variety of machine learning techniques; highly proficient in manipulating large datasets using SQL, Python or R
  • Experience with crafting measurement programs for customer acquisition and retention efforts, including marketing efficiency & optimization
  • Experience with building end-to-end ML-powered data products from data acquisition to model output delivery
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability, with a track record demonstrating a “test & learn” mindset
  • Ability to multi-task and work in cross-functional, fast-paced environments with the pressure of multiple deadlines, multiple partners, and organizational complexity
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Has wide-latitude in determining objectives and approaches to solution development
  • Sets standards and best practices to achieve high quality work product
  • Makes difficult but necessary trade-offs to ensure on-time deliverables without compromising quality
  • Improves processes that lead to more effective team collaboration
