What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will work within the Center for Observational Research (CfOR), report to a Director, Observational Research. This position will primarily involve hands-on data science activities, including evaluation of data quality, data management, data visualization and data analysis, and the building machine learning models, using observational data, to support drug development. This role is recognized as a scientific contributor and is a first or contributing author for papers in peer reviewed journals or for internal reports that enhance the company’s mission. The position includes opportunities to work with large and rich healthcare data, the ability to learn and use innovative machine learning methods, and resources to facilitate career growth.
- Conduct research to the highest standards of the profession
- Researching and selecting appropriate data sources, acquisition and cleaning
- Using quantitative techniques to understand and discover useful information from biological data and lead development of data visualization efforts using visualization tools such as R, tableau or Spotfire
- Developing predictive analytics models and implementing data analytic pipelines, using healthcare data
- Author and present study protocols and analysis plans
- Author study reports and research papers
- Participate in submission planning and discussions with regulatory agencies
- Set annual product-specific and personal goals and provide input into observational research department meetings
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in the fields of data science, epidemiology and drug development and contribute to the field.
- Promote data science awareness and understanding and use of data science and Machine learning methods
- Communicate significant scientific information to a variety of audiences

Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree and 2 years of data sciences and/or scientific/observational research experience OR
- Master’s degree and 6 years of data sciences and/or scientific/observational research experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of data sciences and/or scientific/observational research experience OR
- Associate’s degree and 10 years of data sciences and/or scientific/observational research experience OR
- High school diploma / GED and 12 years of data sciences and/or scientific/observational research experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology or other subject with high data science content or Medical degree with observational research/data science experience
- 6 years’ experience in data sciences and/or predictive analytics
- 3 years’ experience with Medical or Doctoral degree
- Record of publications in data science or clinical journals
- Advanced knowledge in programming languages (Python or R) and ability to implement data analytic pipeline
- Extensive knowledge in machine learning models, frameworks (Spark) and data structures
- Familiar with inference and experimental design, principles of decision making, and Monte Carlo simulation methods
- In-depth understanding of applying supervised and unsupervised models to identify complex relationships in the data
- Knowledge of innovative learning algorithms/data science methods
- Experience working with real world data
- Experience with AWS cloud services
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
