Employment Information
Data Scientist has a deep understanding of modern machine learning techniques, their mathematical underpinnings, and be able to translate this knowledge into business applications. This role is responsible for working with Senior Data Scientists to develop models, including the necessary steps of synthesizing data and applying analytics techniques for a wide range of use cases. Examples may include delivering a personalized customer expeThe Drience to optimizing marketing spend, finding optimal price-points, providing accurate forecasts, assessing incrementality, and improving merchandising efficiencies.
The role requires a strong self-learning ethic to ensure that skills remain current and strong communication, interpersonal and people skills. These will support the Data Scientist in enabling technical discussions with peers and management as well as communicating ideas to less technical stakeholders.
The Data Scientist has to have a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or any other related quantitative field. An equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable for this position.
Strong communication skills are required as they will be required to explain advanced statistical content to senior data scientists and relevant stakeholders. Must have the ability to translate and tailor this technical content into business applicable material with clear recommendations and insights relevant to the audience at hand.

The Data Scientist must be a people person, demonstrating an ability to create and maintain strong, meaningful, and lasting relationships with others. They must be a confident but friendly and approachable individual who will inspire confidence and trust in their seniors and key stakeholders, leading them to give credit to their insights and judgments.
Solid knowledge of mathematical and statistical foundations but may require guidance in applying theory to a new task. Experience in assessing model performance and deciding on the next steps and capable of implementing next steps. Has experience in one of the two: classical or deep-learning ML.
Solid programming in Python, able to write clean working code. Most of the Python coding experience is likely to have been done in jupyter notebooks. Familiar with some programming principles, eager to learn and may require guidance in applying best practice; will benefit a great deal from code reviews.
Knows some SQL, and have used it on practical tasks for at least 12 months. Is aware of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ SQL, knows about limitations of database servers. Not familiar with database administration, but is able and willing to learn
Can create powerful visualizations, sometimes with guidance to choose the right type (e.g., graph, color, etc.). Proficient using at least one of the mainstream dashboarding tools.
Good knowledge of data visualization techniques and can implement and execute a planned EDA either to uncover data patterns or prepare for a model development. Occasionally needs guidance to interpret the graphs.
Familiar with cloud infrastructure and may have used cloud-based computes to develop. Has some familiarity with the steps of deploying an ML model using cloud infrastructure. Familiar with other cloud-relevant tools like blob storages and may have used them in isolation from the cloud.
Strong proficiency in the use of Ms Word, Ms Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, all, necessary for the creation of both visually and verbally engaging reports and presentations, for senior data scientists and key stakeholders.
