JOB MISSION:
The Data Scientist, Consumer Insights & Analytics will be responsible for the application of advanced analytics across multiple functions including product creation, merchandising, marketing, ecommerce, forecasting, and buying. You will work closely with domain specific Consumer Insights leads, data engineers, and subject matter experts demonstrating agile standard processes to drive consumer focused data-driven decisions through descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
As an expert in data science, you will own analytics projects from end to end including data discovery, modeling, and visualization, translating data into actionable insights. In addition, you will be responsible for chipping in to the development of Consumer Insights & Analytics as a capability working to keep New Balance at the cutting edge of applied analytics. This position is based at New Balance Headquarters in the Boston area.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Own analytics projects from end to end
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify high impact applications of advanced analytics.
- Scope analytical approach and level of effort on a project-by-project basis
- Implement data collection and modeling partnering with IT as needed.
- Communicate progress to cross-functional collaborators.
- Translate data into actionable insights.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and applications of data science to consumer insights and analytics
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience using various analytics tools and programming languages (R, Python, etc.) to develop and apply sophisticated analytics to address business priorities
- Passion for solving complex data problems and generating cross-functional solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly analytical and structured with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with ability to establish relationships with team members.
- Collaborative approach to work and ability to operate with limited direction.
- Experience in retail or consumer products preferred, but not required

Flexible Work Schedule

Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced “Work from Anywhere” (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year.
