We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team. The data scientist will analyze, organize, and integrate genomic data to solve specific research problems.
We are seeking an individual with a strong foundation in molecular biology/genetics, experimental design, as well as significant hands-on experience in executing, troubleshooting, and developing computational algorithms/software's used for next generation sequencing studies. Specifically, we are looking for an individual who has significant expertise in mutation calling using WES/WGS, copy number estimation using WES/WGS, and RNAseq analyses. Experience with single-cell sequencing analysis is not required, but an asset. The individual will also help with the maintenance of software tools and deployments for solving specific problems.
In addition, the applicant must have excellent written and verbal communication, effective judgment and problem solving, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Experimental Design and Implementation
- Analyzing, visualizing, and interpreting next generation sequencing data
- Assisting with raw and analyzed data organization, management, and submission to repositories
- Applies statistical tests for associations, differences, survival analyses, and regressions
- Must work independently
- Must be able to manage and troubleshoot multiple projects simultaneously
Data Preparation/Presentation/Publications
- Prepare data for publications, grants, and presentations
- Give presentations summarizing research progress/findings
- Creating publication quality figures and tables
Other duties as assigned
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field.
Experience Required: Three years experience in scientific software development/analysis. With Master's degree, one years experience required. With PhD, no experience required.
Experience Preferred: Previous experience in cancer biology and experience in computational biology/bioinformatics
