Sweetwater, the nation’s #1 online retailer of pro audio equipment and music instruments is seeking to hire a Data Scientist focused on marketing efforts, which spans digital, performance, email, print, social and more. This role will leverage internal and external data to find opportunities, test hypotheses, and build solutions that bring business value.

This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Fort Wayne, IN. Job Responsibilities

  • Enhance, extend & build models, such as: Media Mix Modeling, Audience & Geographic based frameworks, Predicted Lifetime Value, Customer Segmentation, Attribution, Website pathing & Entry points, etc.
  • Work with stakeholders within marketing to learn their processes & workflows and find ways to deliver value
  • Define business problems & questions and help evaluate options for providing solutions
  • Source, clean, & transform the necessary data according to best practices for the specific scenario
  • Perform exploratory data analysis & feature development – communicate learnings/insights
  • Build predictive models using current & well supported algorithms – balancing business value and metrics
  • Deploy solutions leveraging the validated models for stakeholders and systems to use and interact with
  • Measure & monitor results – maximizing performance, opportunities to improve, and knowing when to iterate
  • Collaborate with Data & Analytics Engineers, Business Intelligence, Cloud Platform Engineers, as well as Software Developers for data pipelines and functions necessary to operationalize model and provide inference

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with involvement in 1+ end to end model processes supporting a use case in production
  • Proficiency in website analytics, customer segmentation, & testing/experimentation (A/B, audience, geographic)
  • Experience with algorithms throughout the data science space: Supervised (Regression & Classification), Unsupervised (Clustering & Anomaly Detection), Time Series & Forecasting, Neural Networks
  • Solid understanding of model metrics and which can/should be used for specific use cases
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field such as Data Science, AI/ML, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Python/R & SQL knowledge is critical; familiarity with MLOps concepts (Git, branching, CI/CD) desired
  • Natural curiosity with a strong business acumen (retail preferred)
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Solid organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects easily while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to handle sensitive data in a confidential manner
