The Martime Safety Office (SFH) seeks the contractor to collect, process, and perform data analysis and deliver data driven solutions to quantitatively improve the mission areas of Maritime Features, Surfaces, Publications, Events, Dissemination, Source Assessment, and Metrics.


Currently ManTech is seeking a m customer-oriented Data Scientist to join our team in Springfield, Virginia.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create visualizations to aid in understanding data.
  • Collect, process, and perform data analysis.
  • Integrate, centralize, protect, and maintain data in a DBMS.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.
  • Conduct undirected research and frame open-ended industry / customer questions
  • Recommend cost-effective changes to existing procedures and strategies.
  • Communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner using story-telling / visualization.
  • Create/deploy/maintain cloud applications to support migration of data and production processes.
  • Create / maintain tools to extract features, data, and metadata from a variety of sources including raster to vector, vector to vector, text to vector, and text to database.
  • Write/ maintain Python Scripts in ArcGIS/ArcPro to improve efficiency of the production process.
  • Assist in providing support Business Processing Re-Engineering.
  • Perform Data Conversion/migration.
  • Develop and Perform automated Business Analytics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of combined experience with each of the following areas:
    • demonstrated programming skills with the ability to write / maintain scripts, including Python and JAVA scripts and familiarity of querying with SQL.
    • Knowledge and experience using developing code using version control tools like GitAdvanced knowledge in data science, including the areas of data services, modeling, and analytics.
    • Demonstrated experience performing geospatial data management including data type conversion; coordinate systems (latitude and longitude, UTM) and their conversions; and knowledge of projections and their properties / conversions.
    • Demonstrated experience with ESRI Workflow Manager WMX and TAM.
  • Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with combining digital cartography, computer technology, GIS, cartographic and geospatial production techniques, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and digital data formats.
  • Experience building dashboards/websites portraying data analytics.
  • Experience cleansing and structuring large sets of data.
  • Experience performing data analysis to examine data from a variety of angles to determine hidden value, weaknesses, trends, and / or opportunities.
  • Advanced knowledge ofESRI ArcGIS/ArcPro and ArcServer.
  • Knowledge of database systems and architecture (ORACLE, PostgresSQL, NoSQL (MongoDB), Microsoft Access).

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have an active TS/SCI.

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
