Job Summary
The Data Scientist - Operations role is centered around developing models, optimizing pipelines, and transitioning prototypes to production. This position emphasizes Python and SQL expertise for data manipulation and analysis. The ideal candidate combines robust data science knowledge with engineering skills, focusing on enhancing production reliability and efficiency through advanced programming and database management.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain Python-based data models and algorithms for scalability and reliability.
- Implement and oversee advanced SQL queries and data manipulation techniques to ensure data quality and timely delivery.
- Write and maintain tests for Python code, ensuring robustness and reliability of data processes.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to optimize data management and resource utilization.
- Refactor and enhance Python codebases for efficiency, reusability, readability, and compatibility with various data sources and platforms.
- Continuously refine analytical models, data processing techniques, and methodologies with a focus on Python and SQL.
- Engage with business intelligence and IT teams for the integration of Python-based tools and effective deployment of SQL-driven processes.
Education and/or Experience
- BA/BS in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, Finance).
- 2-4 years’ experience in Analytics and Data Science, with a strong focus on Python and SQL.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in Python & SQL for data science applications.
- Experience with cloud services and basic knowledge of container strategies and CI/CD principles is a plus.
- Prior experience with APIs, scripting, and optimized ETL/ELT processes in containerized environments.
- The role seeks a candidate adept in both data science and engineering, with a special focus on Python and SQL skills for data analysis.

Physical and Mental Demands
This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking.
