What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Develop and implement machine learning models for predictive purposes.
  • Validate and improve models for roll-out and analyze the performance of existing models.
  • Assess and implement the usefulness of new data sources, transformations, and modeling techniques.
  • Mine large datasets in multiple databases to draw patterns and inferences to build models and support leaders with information that will help make business decisions.
  • Support end-users/ citizen scientists to design strategies based on newly developed machine learning models.
  • Conduct advanced analysis and identify business opportunities.
  • Test, evaluate, and deploy new models and features to achieve better outcomes for key metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, data engineering team, and business stakeholders to craft solutions with a holistic view of the problem.
  • Use unsupervised and supervised learning models to detect anomalies and patterns.
  • Present work to all levels of the organization including senior leadership. Translate data and models into compelling stories.

What Do You Need?

  • To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Information Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Mining, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other technology/quantitative program.
  • Must be proficient in one/or more of the following: Python, R, Spark, Scala, SQL, or other analytical/statistical programming environment.
  • Understanding of supervised and unsupervised model building techniques, such as: neural networks, extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), support vector machines (SVM), gradient boosted models (GBM), and random forest

​Preferred Qualifications -

  • Graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Mining, Applied Mathematics or other quantitative program.
  • Strong analytical skills to extract, manipulate, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex and diverse datasets like, customer data, product data, IOT data
  • Experience in advanced analytics/statistics, predictive modeling, machine learning and data visualization
  • Proficient in Python/R, Spark, SQL, and ML Ops
  • Experience with A/B testing
  • Hands on experience with information retrieval from high dimensional data, dimensionality reduction and feature extraction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team.

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
