Job Description
HII – Mission Technologies is currently seeking a Data Engineer to work for our customers, located in the Northern Virginia, supporting the modernization of Combatant Command intelligence capabilities and development of the JADC2 Data Fabric for the Mission Partner Environment to enhance joint command and control and information sharing capabilities with foreign partners.

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.
- Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Work with data scientists and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems."
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Active Top Secret Clearance or higher, US Citizenship enabling attainment of a SCI clearance
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases, including NoSQL databases.
- Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
- Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools and programming.
- Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, R, Java, etc.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL.
- Experience with backend development for data processing.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB for database management and operations.
- Experience with AWS cloud services.
- Familiarity with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for data processing and visualization.
- Knowledge of machine learning and data mining techniques.
- Knowledge of Databricks for big data processing, analytics, and machine learning.
- Proficiency in using GitHub for version control.
Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
