OVERVIEW

General Mills is seeking a Data Scientist to work in our Consumer & Market Insights (CMI) Decision Sciences team. The Decision Sciences team provides strategic business analytics that enable business teams to better understand data, extract insights and identify potential actions to take related to strategic business questions.

This position is focused on building, scaling, and maintaining our capabilities to identify strategic growth opportunities through the lens of the consumer.

We are looking for an exceptional person who is passionate about data science, predictive analytics, and machine learning technologies (data exploration, sampling, training data generation, feature engineering, model building, and performance evaluation). As part of the Decision Sciences team, you will apply analytical rigor, critical thinking, and creativity to solve complex issues while working with business teams. This will require leveraging external partners, working with peers in the Decision Sciences team, and partnering with end business users to develop a world class ecosystem.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

We are looking for someone to help further our advanced analytics capabilities to deliver business growth. The right candidate will have demonstrated technical and business experience and can lead the continued growth of our capabilities that align with our strategic business decisions. This would include:

  • Create and follow analytics project plan while working on an Agile work team
  • Develop and leverage models, segmentations, or analyses, to produce sound business insights that can be scaled and applied across global business areas
  • Generate and combine insights from large and/or disparate data sources
  • Partner and collaborate with others within the Consumer and Market Insights function, serving as an analytics consultant and advisor
  • Effectively communicate and translate results to all levels of the organization to influence business decisions and strategies, serving as a thought leader within consumer analytics and measurement
  • Staying abreast of latest advances in marketing science & analytics, identifying opportunities within General Mills for application
  • Mentoring others in methods, storytelling, and partnership-building

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Data Science or similar analytics discipline (i.e. Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, etc.)
  • 2+ years in data science or marketing analytics roles, building or leveraging advanced analytics, statistical, and machine learning methods
  • Experience in MTA, Bayesian Models, and Consumer Analytics
  • Demonstrated experience translating analytics results, turning analytics into actionable business strategies, and delivering on business objectives
  • Demonstrated experience of partnering with stakeholders and creating and maintaining strong relationships
  • Proficient with R, Python and SQL scripting languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working on a global team with remote team members
  • Working in Agile Project Management
  • Prior experience working with Strategy and Growth teams
  • Prior experience working in the Consumer Packaged Goods or Retail industry

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $77900.00 - $130000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
