The People Data Science team empowers the business to unlock the full potential of talent and drive meaningful improvements in organizational effectiveness. About the Role

As a Data Scientist on the People Team at DoorDash, you'll use your background in quantitative social science to dive into large datasets to guide decision-making, develop approaches and recommendations, and mentor other scientists. We solve a multitude of exciting challenges across recruiting, funnel optimization, employee engagement and lifecycle measurement, predictive modeling, and forecasting. You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

  • Use quantitative analysis and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand what drives our most critical business asset - our talent - across the employee lifecycle.
  • Independently develop full-cycle analytics, reports, and dashboards using SQL, R, Python, or other scripting and statistical tools, as well as your considerable knowledge of statistics and data science methods
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to use more advanced data science methods to solve their business needs Use statistical techniques and hypothesis testing to develop recommendations and insights that help business and product leaders understand the dynamics of our company, employee behaviors, and long-term trends
  • Develop new metrics and data products to measure progress against our People Team goals
  • Collaborate with engineering and analytics to implement, document, validate, and monitor data trends.

We're excited about you because you have....

  • An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a discipline of quantitative social science (e.g., applied data science, I/O psychology, behavioral economics, sociology)
  • 3+ years of experience independently applying your skills to solve problems (1-2+ years in People Analytics preferred)
  • Deep expertise in statistics and data science methods (e.g., linear and logistic regression, causal inference, A/B testing, matching methods, time series analyses)
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Python (Preferred), R
  • Demonstrated experience communicating technical findings to nontechnical audiences.
  • The insight to take ambiguous problems and solve them in a structured, hypothesis-driven, data- supported way
  • Nice-to-have: Experience developing and analyzing surveys
  • Nice-to-have: Experience working in a global HR / people organization.

Compensation

The location-specific base salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation in other geographies may vary.

Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location. Please discuss your intended work location with your recruiter for more information.

In addition to base salary, the compensation package for this role also includes opportunities for equity grants.

California Pay Range:

$162,000—$243,000 USD

New York Pay Range:

$162,000—$243,000 USD

Washington Pay Range:

$162,000—$243,000 USD
