Plaid’s Machine Learning team is building models, services and platforms that improve how millions of users understand and grow their financial lives. We are looking for data scientists who can help our clients make the best use of our products and additionally uncover insights to power our machine learning roadmap.

You’ll be a data scientist on the Machine Learning Credit team, where you will work on supporting customers/clients to make the best use of the Plaid Credit product suite to manage credit risk in their portfolios. This will entail conducting and analyzing retros for clients, identifying credit risk strategies that show performance lift and collecting key customer feedback to evolve our product roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging closely with prospects and customers to solve credit risk challenges
  • Applying your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data visualization to find insights for improving our API products
  • Identifying useful signals that can be fed into machine learning models
  • Diving deep into the behavior and performance of large scale machine learning models to discover new opportunities of improvements and experimentation
  • Informing and influencing product, engineering teams and customers through your data analysis and presentations
  • Making long-term data science roadmap decisions like how machine learning and data science iteration should be done at Plaid
  • Championing a data-first approach toward decision-making across the entire organization

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience in a product focused Data Science role
  • Proven experience in credit risk attributes/modeling, preferably within the fintech industry
  • Deep familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools
  • Ability to code and iterate independently in Python and utilize common data infrastructure tools like Jupyter notebooks, standard ML libraries, Spark, etc
  • Familiarity with AWS stack
  • Understanding of modern machine learning techniques, such as classification, clustering, optimization, deep neural network, and natural language processing
  • Proven ability to tailor your solutions to business problems in a cross-functional team
  • Data engineering experience and data pipeline tooling (e.g. Airflow, DBT) experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or a closely related field

$154,000.00 - $232,200.00 per year

Target base salary for this role is between $154,000 and $232,000 per year. Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location. Pay and benefits are subject to change at any time, consistent with the terms of any applicable compensation or benefit plans.
