The Role:
Reporting to the Data Science Manager, as the Data Scientist at BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK, you will be a part of the Risk Analytics team, using data science techniques to shape credit strategy for our largest client. You will have the opportunity to deliver and present solutions in a fast – paced environment, which will lay the foundation for a culture that promotes data science, ensuring they are aligned with BNP strategies deliverables. This will involve collaborating with internal and external business functions, promoting the use of advanced analytics to transform data into meaningful insights, ensuring outputs produced are accurate and of a high standard.
We expect a strong level of coding experience, ideally in Python, with SAS or similar also advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and maintain explainable machine learning models, exploring, and adopting new data sources that improve efficacy of models.
- Solve business problems and analyse patterns in data using latest technologies, advanced analytics, and commercial acumen.
- Extract, cleanse and analyse large and complex datasets, structuring, manipulating, and staging to produce optimal decisions.
- Create and maintain reporting and support the wider Risk Analytics team with BAU tasks.
- Optimise scoring and policy through identification of high and low risk populations.
- Present data science techniques to wide ranging audience
- Conduct in-depth exploratory analysis on different client segments and portfolios, assessing KPI’s and ensuring outputs produced are accurate and of a high standard.
- Plan, control and deliver assigned projects, and participate as appropriate in cross functional projects and investigations, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan.
- Identify areas of cost reduction, service and process improvements that will results in adding value to the business whilst treating customers fairly.
- Keep abreast of new developments and regulatory issues and apply commercial acumen to produce actionable recommendations.
Skills & Attributes:
- Proven Data Science experience. (Must)
- Experience in Programming languages such as Python.
- Strong communication skills.
- Educated to a degree level or higher in a Quantitative Field.
- Experience in building machine learning models. (Must)
- Experience in Credit Risk function.
- Think outside of the box & strong Analytical skills.
- Experience in regression, clustering, classification, decision trees & statistical models.
- A self – starter who can apply their own initiative to the role.
