Position Overview

Are you excited about the idea of using data to make the world a better place? Building operations today is highly inefficient. Up to 50% of maintenance expenditure is ineffective, 30% of energy is wasted due to poor design and/or operational decisions, and as much as 50% of the operational carbon emissions comes from buildings and manufacturing facilities.

We are seeking someone who wants to use the massive amount of data buildings generate to make a positive impact on the world. You are someone who isn’t afraid of technical complexity and looks for ways to apply the latest and greatest advancements in the field of data science to turn that data into actionable insights. In this role you will report to the Vice President & General Manager for Autodesk Tandem.

Preference for candidates willing to work hybrid-remote from our San Francisco office. Other preferred US locations: Seattle, Portland, Boston, Atlanta.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with building systems subject matter experts and external partners to understand the available building data and the information that can be derived from it
  • Define data models to support the performance metrics and analytics we want to provide our customers incorporating industry standard ontologies and best practices wherever possible
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to create, maintain and enhance data pipelines that gather and normalize data from various systems
  • Use machine learning techniques to identify patterns and trends in data to uncover insights
  • Develop algorithms to forecast outcomes and make recommendations
  • Work with the engineering team to productize the performance metrics and predictive analytics to unlock high value outcomes for our customers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or other quantitative discipline
  • 5+ years of experience working in a global, high technology company
  • Familiarity with multiple statistical and machine learning techniques including classification, regression, dimension reduction, regularization, clustering, and various multivariate methods
  • Experience with data modeling techniques, data ontologies, and defining normalized data models that can be used to produce analytical outcomes
  • Proficiency with data analysis and experience with modern data science toolkits
  • Readiness to learn and master new technologies to build, train and deploy analytical models
  • Excellent oral and visual communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with building systems and building systems data
  • Adaptable and comfortable with complexity and uncertainty
  • Self-motivated, creative, and collaborative
  • Prior experience implementing and deploying data science models or data products in Production
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Experience working in AWS or Azure environments and applying their compute and data analytics services

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $130,100 and $210,540. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
