Summary
Be part of the engineering team building input algorithms for Apple Vision Pro at Apple! We are looking for a data scientist with strong mathematical programming skills, experience with automation, and the ability to assess user experience through data analysis. In this role, you will collaborate with multiple teams (machine learning, quality assurance, cloud infrastructure support, user studies). We are a team responsible for testing algorithm implementations, identifying corner cases, and ensuring Apple’s input experience performs with high quality for customers.
Key Qualifications
- 2+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
- Experience in programming at least 2 of Python, Obj-C, Swift, C, Java
- Extensive knowledge of statistical data analysis and machine learning techniques
- Experience developing data science pipelines, toolchains, and workflows.
- Ability to identify patterns in sophisticated and large datasets, isolate performance targets, and identify sources of variance related to those targets.
- Experienced with data visualization (e.g. matplotlib/ggplot/tableau).
- Partnering with a development team to quickly learn a new application, break it into functional parts, and identify potential weaknesses
- Understanding the context where an application will be deployed, providing insights into potential failures
- Documentation of test cases and code used for test execution
- Tracking performance, reporting results to management, driving issues to closure
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, guaranteeing complete test coverage and a flawless end-user experience.
- Experience in testing & debugging UI frameworks.
- Ability to develop test guidelines from specifications.
- Ability to learn quickly and understand the intent and design of an algorithm
Description
Own the quality of input algorithms running Apple Vision Pro
Generating KPIs and visualizations across large user data sets highlighting critical improvements or regressions
Understand dependency impacts on algorithm quality Analyzing and interpreting data to identify user-facing failures and trends
Collaborating closely with algorithm and software development teams to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery.
Working multi-functionally to drive quality and be able to communicate results clearly.
Education & Experience
B.Sc. or M.S. in CE/CS, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Operation Research or similar

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300 and $241,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
