We are looking for a curious, creative, and business oriented Data Science Manager, to work within our Global Winning with Data team to provide business and technical expertise in Advanced/Predictive/Prescriptive Analytics. Key responsibility will be to drive the execution of WWD projects for the highly visible and groundbreaking Digital Transformation and Winning with Data initiatives; in particular the candidate will be focusing on the engagement of the countries’ team and deployment of the global strategies into the affiliates. For this role, you should be highly analytical and business oriented with a love and high affinity for analysis, math, statistics background and passionate for analytics visualization development. A strong candidate for this position should not only be skillful in data analysis but also able to visualize and code in the required platform to develop analytics tools with a co-creation / partnership approach with cross-functional stakeholders as well as have a good understanding of global / area and local the business need. Utilization of related technical skills and methodologies and strive to remain abreast of leading-edge advanced analytics technologies.

What you'll be doing:

  • Serve as a key team member on the Global Winning with Data team, working in close partnership with the Digital Transformation and Wining with Data Global Commercial Capability teams and becoming a trusted partner to Global, Area and Affiliate leadership.
  • Analyze and prepare data to be used by the Data Scientists team.
  • Transform data into business insights that are useful for decision making and strategic planning utilizing complex statistical models and algorithms.
  • Understand and assess data fit and quality, informing and partnering with the Global Data Stewards team to maintain the highest standards
  • Identify the best way to disseminate information through utilization of different tools and visual elements to stakeholders
  • Develop a deep understanding of AbbVie data assets and Ontology in Foundry
  • Define data entities and objects requirements and brief the Data Engineering team to create the appropriate environments
  • Understanding business requirements, utilize data sets of varying degrees of size and complexity to inform the development of Machine Learning algorithms
  • Drive the development of the use cases, in partnership with the other WWD teams, to prototype and develop the relevant visualizations
  • Drive the engagement of affiliates stakeholders to define business questions, requirements, timelines, objectives, and success criteria for data analysis initiatives
  • Work closely with Business Technology Solutions (BTS) colleagues to ensure smooth transition of pilots into production, including technical guidance with respect to replication and scaling, with specific focus on Visualizations
  • Provide data analysis thought leadership in the Digital Transformation and Winning with data Capabilities strategic planning processes based on a deep understanding of data assets and best practice approaches and their application to AbbVie’s commercial data to address business needs
  • Ensure Data Analysis and Visualization components and projects are conducted on time, accurately, within budget, and in accordance with financial and ethical compliance guidelines.
  • Engage the affiliates team up to director level during the critical deployment of global capabilities to the countries, understand local needs and define the related priority to close the loop into the global pipeline.

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Master degree required, with demonstration and focus on applied data science, Math, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science or Economics.
  • MBA will be considered a plus.
  • Ability to operate EDA with advanced tools and process in multiple environments
  • Ability to define user use cases and develop high-quality visualizations to provide an excellent User Experience
  • Expertise in Javascript , SQL and Python.
    • Preferred but not required expertise in visualization libraries/tools such as plotly, ggplot
    • Strongly preferred but not required other visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI or Qliksense
  • Minimum of 6 years of data analysis experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in global roles interacting with multiple countries stakeholders in a matrix organization.
  • Strong experience analyzing and drawing insights from key internally generated and external data sets.
  • Analytical reasoning abilities, intellectual curiosity, business acumen, and creativity in problem solving
  • Strong communication skills, People person. Ability to interact effectively with/present to (verbally and in writing) all levels of the organization (up to Affiliates Directors and Global Senior Directors / VPs)
  • Ability to be agile & nimble to changing business conditions, strong collaboration, and teamwork across functional groups to contribute to a productive work culture. Lead strategically and create trust and respect within the department.
